President Donald Trump is turning up the heat on Republicans in Congress, warning that failure to pass his massive legislative package could trigger a staggering tax increase that he says would be the biggest in American history.
Taking to social media in the middle of a chaotic legislative showdown, Trump dropped a bombshell warning about the consequences of inaction during what’s become a grueling marathon of Senate amendment votes known as a “vote-a-rama.”
“Republicans, the One Big Beautiful Bill, perhaps the greatest and most important of its kind in history, gives the largest Tax Cuts and Border Security ever, Jobs by the Millions, Military/Vets increases, and so much more. The failure to pass means a whopping 68% Tax increase, the largest in history!!!,” he posted.

Republican leaders are scrambling to keep their slim Senate majority in line as they wrestle with a tidal wave of Democrat amendments aimed at slicing and dicing Trump’s signature plan. With only a narrow margin to spare, Republicans can’t afford to lose more than three votes—and trouble is brewing.
