The Democrat field just lost one of its big names for 2028.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore, long rumored to be a potential rising star for the Left, stunned observers on NBC’s Meet the Press when he flatly declared, “I’m not running for president.” That shuts the door on his name appearing in what’s already shaping up to be a fierce Democrat primary fight.
Triple Confirmation on National TV
NBC host Kristen Welker pressed Moore multiple times to make sure viewers heard him correctly. She asked if he would serve out another full term as governor if re-elected next year. Moore said yes, which meant the White House speculation was finished.
“Do you rule out a run for president, governor?” Welker asked.
“Yeah, I’m not running for president,” Moore replied.
Not stopping there, Welker pushed again: “You rule it out?”
“Yes, I’m not running for president,” he repeated.
