Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon has been released from prison after serving a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress, emerging Tuesday morning to a crowd of friends and supporters eager to greet him. Bannon’s sentence followed his refusal to comply with a congressional subpoena tied to the investigation into the January 6th Capitol riots.
Bannon, 70, was released from the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, where he had been since July. According to the Bureau of Prisons, his release took place early in the morning, with Bannon seen carrying his belongings in a gray tracksuit. A heartwarming moment occurred as his daughter, Maureen, ran towards him with outstretched arms for a hug. The image of Bannon reuniting with his family captured a moment of emotion after months behind bars.

As soon as he walked free, Bannon made it clear that his political fight is far from over. In a statement Tuesday, Bannon announced his immediate return to his popular podcast, War Room, where he vowed to continue rallying Trump supporters ahead of the upcoming elections. “I am going to prison. I’m proud to go to prison. I am proud of going to prison today,” Bannon said back in July before entering the prison. His commitment to his cause has not wavered, as he made it clear that his mission to “stand up to tyranny” will persist.
