State Supreme Court ROCKED by Sudden Resignation

Utah’s judiciary was rocked Friday after a sitting state Supreme Court justice abruptly stepped down amid growing fallout tied to a politically explosive redistricting battle that helped Democrats gain a potential congressional seat in one of the reddest states in America.

Diana Hagen submitted her resignation to Spencer Cox effective immediately, ending months of controversy surrounding allegations involving a lawyer connected to a major redistricting lawsuit that reshaped Utah’s political map.

The sudden resignation sent shockwaves through Utah political circles, especially after Republican lawmakers spent months demanding deeper scrutiny into the matter.

In a resignation letter filled with emotion, Hagen said she was leaving “with deep sadness” and praised her fellow justices while lamenting the turmoil surrounding the controversy.

She wrote that she would “love nothing more” than to remain on the bench, but concluded that doing so would require sacrificing the privacy of people close to her and potentially undermine the court itself.
