Authorities assured the public that Anthony was taken into custody and that there was no further threat. The investigation remains ongoing with multiple divisions of the Frisco Police Department actively working on the case.
“The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain.”
Austin’s father, Jeff Metcalf, revealed heartbreaking details about the moments leading up to the attack. Speaking with NBC News, he said his son was killed over a minor dispute regarding Anthony being in the wrong location.
Metcalf also shared that Austin did not know Anthony prior to the incident. His twin brother, Hunter, was present during the attack and desperately tried to save him.
“They were twins, identical twins, and his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms,” Metcalf said.
The father recounted his last moments with his son, describing a chaotic rush to the hospital and his desperate prayers.
“I rushed up there and I saw him on the gurney and I could tell — they said he wasn’t breathing. I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him. This is murder.”
Metcalf also expressed deep frustration, questioning the upbringing of his son’s attacker.
“I’m not trying to judge, but what kind of parents did this child have? What was he taught? He brought a knife to a track meet and he murdered my son by stabbing him in the heart. The guy was in the wrong place and they asked him to move and he bowed up. This is murder.”
Despite his grief, Metcalf said he has already found it in his heart to forgive his son’s killer.

“You know what, I already forgive this person. Already. God takes care of things. God is going to take care of me. God is going to take care of my family.”
Frisco Memorial High School Principal Brook Fesco informed parents and staff of the tragic loss in an emotional email obtained by Fox News, calling it an “unthinkable tragedy.”
“As a parent, your guidance and support will be important in helping your child process grief. Talking about this together, face-to-face, will give you a chance to discuss how your family understands and copes with loss. You may also want to discuss with your child how to be a supportive friend to classmates.”
The letter encouraged parents to provide their children with a safe space to express their emotions, acknowledging that such a loss might resurface memories of past tragedies.

Jeff Metcalf has since launched a GoFundMe campaign in memory of his son. The fundraiser paints a picture of a young man with immense potential and a bright future ahead.
“My son, Austin Metcalf, was tragically stabbed today at a school track meet. They were not able to save him. He was a bright young man with a great future ahead of him. He was a leader of men. His smile would light up the room. His passion for football was unbelievable. Voted team MVP this past season and carried a 4.0 GPA.”
Austin had aspirations to take his athletic career to the next level. His dedication and perseverance had already made him a standout athlete. His twin brother, Hunter, was not only his sibling but his teammate, standing by his side through every victory and challenge.
“We will all remember him for the way he impacted others’ lives. I love you forever, son. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. God will take care of us till we meet again. RIP. Love, Dad.”
As the investigation continues, the Frisco community is left mourning a young life taken far too soon. This tragedy has reignited concerns over safety at school sporting events, as many question how a weapon was brought into the venue. The Metcalf family, friends, and supporters are demanding justice while also leaning on their faith for strength.
Austin Metcalf’s legacy will live on through the people he inspired, the teammates he led, and the family who loved him deeply. His story is a painful reminder of how quickly lives can be shattered by senseless violence.
