Legendary football coach Nick Saban has made more than a few trips to the White House after claiming seven national championships with Alabama. But one visit during Donald Trump’s presidency left him with a memory he won’t ever forget.
During a recent appearance at the University of Alabama’s commencement ceremony, Saban introduced President Trump with a lighthearted story that revealed a moment both funny and nerve-wracking during a 2018 visit to the Oval Office.
After a thrilling overtime victory over the Georgia Bulldogs, the Crimson Tide were honored with the traditional White House visit. However, President Trump gave the team something extra — an experience that still has Saban chuckling years later.
Unlike previous administrations, Trump welcomed the team directly into the Oval Office. Saban spoke highly of the former President’s hospitality, recalling, “I take the three captains in the Oval Office, and the President’s really nice to everybody.”
