The woman legally married to Renee Good, who was fatally shot by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis, has broken her silence with an emotional public statement that sharply contrasts with official accounts and newly released video evidence.

Rebecca “Becca” Good released her remarks on Friday, marking her first public comments since Wednesday’s deadly confrontation with agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. According to federal officials, Renee Good attempted to run over law enforcement officers with her vehicle during an enforcement operation, prompting an ICE agent to open fire.
Rebecca Good was present at the scene when the shooting occurred.
In a statement shared with Minnesota Public Radio News, Rebecca described her spouse in glowing terms, portraying Renee as gentle, joyful, and motivated by compassion rather than confrontation.
“This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind. In fact, kindness radiated out of her,” Rebecca Good wrote. “Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter, but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores.”
Rebecca Good framed the encounter as a peaceful act of community support rather than a volatile confrontation.
