Redistricting Nightmare for Jasmine Crockett!

>> Continued From the Previous Page <<

The Democrat firebrand blasted the redistricting as a “hot mess,” claiming Republicans deliberately targeted Black lawmakers. She pointed to other incumbents, including longtime Houston Rep. Al Green, who famously tried — and failed — multiple times to impeach President Donald Trump.

“It is so sad that these people have no integrity and could care less about doing what’s right,” Crockett raged. “They want to exhaust us, and I want us to dig deep and show them even more energy than they could have ever imagined coming from us, us being we, the people. We are the state that actually brought the country Roe v. Wade; it is time for us to rise.”

On social media, Crockett didn’t hold back, accusing Republicans of outright cheating.

“Republicans in Texas just rolled out their proposed Congressional map that cut 5 Democratic seats out of thin air,” she posted on X. “Let’s be clear: these maps are not about representation, it’s a power grab to silence voters and suppress votes… If your big idea is ‘cheat harder,’ maybe it’s time to rethink your politics.”

Despite the outrage, Republicans aren’t blinking. Just days later, the Texas Senate approved the redistricting map with a 19–2 party-line vote. Most Senate Democrats staged a dramatic walkout moments before the vote, but without the numbers to block the measure, the bill sailed through.

The plan would create as many as five new Republican-majority districts. Senate Democrats slammed the proposal as “politicians picking their voters instead of voters choosing their leaders,” accusing Republicans of hijacking a special session that was supposed to focus on flood relief.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick celebrated the vote and made it clear the GOP isn’t backing down.

“The Texas Senate will continue passing this map each legislative session to accurately reflect our state until House Democrats return from their ‘vacation’ and get back to work for the people of Texas,” Patrick declared.

For now, the bill heads to the Texas House — but the process is frozen. More than 60 House Democrats, including at least 50 who fled the state, are hiding out in cities like Chicago, New York, and Boston to avoid a quorum. Without them, no legislative work can move forward.

Gov. Greg Abbott has warned he’s prepared for a long fight.

“Democrats can run to another state, but they can’t outrun the will of Texans,” Abbott wrote on X. “If there’s no quorum Friday, Special Session #2 will start immediately… I’ll call special after special until the Texas first agenda is passed.”

For Crockett, the clock is ticking. If the map survives court challenges, she’ll have to either move to stay in her current district, jump into a race in unfamiliar territory, or square off against another Democrat in a primary.

The battle over Texas’s political future is just beginning — but unless something changes, Jasmine Crockett could soon find herself without a seat in Congress at all.
