A disturbing case out of the United Kingdom has ignited a political firestorm on both sides of the Atlantic, after bodycam footage and court revelations surrounding the death of 18-year-old accounting student Henry Nowak resurfaced online and drew sharp commentary from U.S. and U.K. officials.
At the center of the controversy is the claim that a British police officer allegedly stood over the dying teenager and dismissed his pleas for help, reportedly saying he did not believe he had been stabbed—despite the young man’s worsening condition on a residential street in Southampton in December 2025.
Nowak’s attacker, identified as Vickrum Digwa, was reportedly still nearby at the time of the response. Digwa had allegedly filed a false racism complaint against Nowak during the chaotic incident, a detail that has fueled accusations of “two-tier policing” and systemic bias in how authorities respond to violent crime allegations.
Digwa was later convicted of murder on May 28 and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years.
