Russian President Vladimir Putin openly praised former President Donald Trump for pushing hard to end the bloody conflict in Ukraine. Speaking ahead of their highly anticipated summit in Alaska, Putin said Trump’s administration was making “energetic and sincere efforts” to broker peace and possibly reshape U.S.-Russia relations.
This marks one of the strongest acknowledgments yet from Moscow that Trump is serious about stopping the war. While Joe Biden fumbles on the global stage, Trump has managed to command respect even from America’s adversaries.
Putin: Trump is Serious About Peace
At a Kremlin meeting with senior officials, Putin told his advisors that Trump’s White House was moving fast to de-escalate the crisis.
“The current American administration… is making, in my opinion, quite energetic and sincere efforts to stop the hostilities, stop the crisis and reach agreements that are of interest to all parties involved in this conflict,” Putin said.
