A Late-Night Comedy Stunt Turns Into a Political Disaster
Harry showed up unannounced on CBS’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert during what was clearly a scripted Hallmark-style comedy sketch. The royal wandered onto the stage and quipped that he believed he was auditioning to play the “Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska.”¹
Colbert asked him why he would take on such a role, and Harry delivered a smug punchline meant to get laughs. “Well, you Americans are obsessed with Christmas movies and you’re clearly obsessed with royalty, so why not?”²
