A federal judge appointed by Barack Obama lashed out at the Trump administration this week over its handling of the deportation of an alleged MS-13 gang member. The courtroom clash centers around Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who was deported back to his home country during President Trump’s crackdown on violent criminal aliens.
Judge Paula Xinis, clearly agitated during a recent conference, accused the Trump administration of refusing to follow a court order and demanded additional information about the deportation be turned over by Wednesday. The judge’s anger boiled over as she insisted the government explain its decision to send Abrego Garcia to CECOT, a maximum-security prison in El Salvador.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a foreign national who had been living illegally in Maryland, was ordered removed by an immigration judge back in 2019. The ruling cited his alleged ties to MS-13—a brutal and violent gang with deep roots in El Salvador. The decision was upheld by the immigration appellate court, cementing his removal.
