Newsom vs. Homan: “ARREST ME!” Showdown!

California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom is back in the headlines—this time not for wild spending or skyrocketing homelessness, but for aggressively defending violent illegal alien rioters in downtown Los Angeles and taking direct aim at President Trump and former ICE Director Tom Homan.

Over the weekend, chaos swept through Los Angeles as anti-ICE demonstrators clashed with law enforcement. Rioters set fires, smashed businesses, and hurled objects at police. Despite this, Governor Newsom bizarrely described the scene as a “peaceful protest,” even as live footage aired showing vehicles in flames and officers under attack.

Instead of supporting law enforcement or acknowledging the violence for what it is, Newsom launched a furious tirade against the Trump administration for doing what Democrats refuse to—enforcing federal immigration law. ICE agents, backed by newly deputized National Guard troops, conducted raids in several locations throughout the city, leading to arrests of multiple illegal aliens with outstanding warrants.

Rather than commend the effort to restore order, Newsom erupted. The Governor took to X (formerly Twitter), blasting the Trump administration for deploying 2,000 National Guard troops to assist in restoring law and order, claiming the move was an “abuse of federal power.” The irony? Newsom had no issue with the National Guard being used to enforce COVID mandates or respond to leftist protests in the past.
