California Governor Gavin Newsom’s left-wing sanctuary state policies just created one of the most expensive self-inflicted disasters in recent memory—and instead of accountability, he’s getting rewarded. After weeks of unchecked violence in Los Angeles, fueled by radical open-border activists and illegal alien supporters, Newsom somehow walked away with a billion-dollar bailout courtesy of the American taxpayer. And he has President Trump to thank.
What happened in Los Angeles wasn’t a protest—it was a full-blown insurrection aided by Newsom’s refusal to enforce the law. Starting on June 6, the city descended into violence as radical agitators rioted across downtown L.A., leaving a stunning trail of destruction behind them.
Federal buildings were attacked. Apple and Adidas stores were looted. Pharmacies, jewelry shops, and small businesses were smashed to bits. Law enforcement was assaulted. American flags were set ablaze in the streets. The price tag? An estimated $1 billion in damages.
The LAPD declared multiple “unlawful assemblies” as officers were forced to use tear gas, flash bangs, and rubber bullets just to hold the line. Meanwhile, Mayor Karen Bass scrambled to impose a curfew between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. to try and curb the chaos. But the damage had already been done—and it wasn’t by accident.
