This week, Nestlé gave the world a textbook example of corporate theater.

A morality play as shares sink
The food giant announced it was firing CEO Laurent Freixe for an “undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate.” That, they said, violated company rules.
Nestlé Chairman Paul Bulcke didn’t waste time striking his most serious tone.
“This was a necessary decision,” Bulcke declared. “Nestlé’s values and governance are strong foundations of our company.”
