Arizona law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation into the troubling disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, but are offering the public few concrete answers as concern grows nationwide.
Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Tucson home late Saturday night, and days later, authorities acknowledge they are dealing with a serious crime. Despite mounting questions, officials have released little new information, fueling frustration among observers and experts who say public awareness can be critical in missing-person cases.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her residence around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed earlier this week that the situation is far more than a routine missing person report.
“We do, in fact, have a crime,” Nanos said on Monday, though he stopped short of explaining exactly what investigators believe occurred inside the home.
