According to multiple Republican lawmakers and reports from Townhall’s Dustin Grage, Minnesota Democrat Rep. Aisha Gomez allegedly screamed at Republican Rep. Elliott Engen to “go f*cking shoot yourself” during a heated clash over gun control legislation Thursday night.
The explosive outburst reportedly occurred during an emotional marathon debate surrounding HF 5140, a sweeping Democrat-backed gun control proposal targeting so-called “assault weapons,” high-capacity magazines, and additional firearm restrictions. Democrats had staged a sit-in style protest in an attempt to pressure House leadership into forcing the bill forward immediately, while Republicans pushed back and argued the legislation should first go through the standard committee process.
Tensions inside the chamber had already been running high for hours as lawmakers listened to emotional testimony tied to violent crimes and recent tragedies across Minnesota.
