Michelle Obama opened up about what “sealed the deal” in her relationship with former President Barack Obama during the latest episode of her podcast, IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson.
The former first lady reminisced about their very first date—an evening that she said changed the course of her life. Her comments come as social media chatter continues to swirl about alleged marital issues, with rumors claiming the couple is headed for divorce.
Speculation over the Obamas’ marriage began earlier this year when Michelle was noticeably absent from several major public events. She skipped President Donald Trump’s inauguration as well as former President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral, sparking whispers about possible problems behind the scenes, according to Newsweek.
Fueling the fire, Meghan McCain—daughter of the late Senator John McCain—told a podcast audience she had heard from “reputable people” that Michelle and Barack were splitting up. Both Obamas, however, have firmly denied those claims.
