Michelle Obama Accused of Blocking RFK Jr.’s Wife

According to the Daily Mail, Hines was effectively blocked from joining David’s newest comedy project, “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America,” a seven-part sketch series that premiered on June 26 to commemorate America’s 250th birthday.

The report, citing unnamed sources close to the production, claims Michelle Obama personally insisted that Hines not be included.

The Daily Mail reported that Obama “commanded that Kennedy’s wife be banned from the cast because she’s now all MAGA, all the time.”

If true, the decision would have surprised many in Hollywood given Hines’ decades-long professional relationship with Larry David. The pair worked together through all 12 seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, where their on-screen chemistry became one of the show’s defining features.

Sources quoted by the Daily Mail claim the decision deeply affected Hines.

“Cheryl felt terribly hurt and emotionally injured because she had worked so closely with Larry for the entire 12 seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm and they had become like bosom buddies,” one insider reportedly said.

The same source added:

“Cheryl’s dream was to work with Larry again and be part of the cast of the new show. She firmly believed that the staunch anti-Trumper could put aside his negative political views about MAGA and Kennedy.

“But banning Cheryl was a command from Michelle that Larry could not go against, even if he had wanted to, for old time’s sake, and mend their past close ties.

“He always respected her as an actress. But Michelle’s the boss. And you don’t cross the boss, especially a powerful anti-MAGA force like Michelle.”

According to the report, nearly every major veteran from Curb Your Enthusiasm returned for the new series. Comedy icon Jerry Seinfeld also appears in the production, and even former President Barack Obama reportedly makes an on-camera appearance.

Hines, however, was allegedly left off the cast list despite her history with David.

Another source described what allegedly happened when Hines’ name surfaced during production discussions.

“But when Cheryl’s name was brought up to join the cast by some of the production people who knew and liked her from ‘Curb,’ Michelle went absolutely ballistic,” the insider claimed.

“‘We cannot and will not have that woman on this show. She’s not one of us,” Michelle Obama said, according to the insider.

The allegations come as Hines has become increasingly connected to national politics through her husband’s role in the Trump administration. Since Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accepted President Trump’s nomination to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services, Hines has frequently found herself pulled into political debates despite building her career largely in entertainment.

Another anonymous source told the Daily Mail that the objection was less about Hines’ acting ability and more about her political associations.

“Michelle felt that Cheryl wasn’t any great shakes as an actress, but mainly she felt she was disgustingly all MAGA because she was married to Bobby Kennedy Jr., whom she described as a turncoat to the Democratic party and a verifiable whack job as Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services.”

The source continued:

“Clearly, Michelle’s a victim of what they call Trump Derangement Syndrome, because her true feelings surfaced in her clear-cut rejection of Cheryl.

“It had nothing to do with Cheryl as an award-winning actress, but rather her supposed politics because of her marriage to Kennedy and being part of Trump’s inner circle of supporters.”

The reported incident has fueled criticism from conservatives who argue that Hollywood continues to apply political litmus tests behind the scenes while publicly championing diversity and inclusion.

Ironically, critics point out that the controversy appears difficult to reconcile with Michelle Obama’s well-known 2016 Democratic National Convention line, “When they go low, we go high,” a phrase that inspired the very name of Higher Ground.

Whether Hines ultimately missed a major opportunity is another matter entirely.

Early reviews for Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness have been divided. Chicago critic Richard Roeper offered qualified praise, calling the series “pretty, pretty, pretty funny.” Other reviewers were far less enthusiastic.

The Hollywood Reporter delivered a notably critical assessment, concluding its review with the line:

“Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness isn’t smooth or steady either, but in another 250 years, give or take, I should be ready for another season.”

As of the Daily Mail’s reporting, representatives for Michelle Obama had been contacted for comment regarding the allegations, but no public response had been issued.
