Tensions inside the Democratic Party appear to be growing, and one of the party’s most unconventional members is once again making headlines. Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman has drawn increasing criticism from progressives since arriving in Washington in 2023, largely because of his willingness to challenge fellow Democrats on several high-profile issues. While he remains a Democrat, the senator says there is one issue that could ultimately force him to walk away from his own party.
During an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Fetterman made it clear that his unwavering support for Israel remains non-negotiable. Although rumors have periodically surfaced suggesting Republicans hope to persuade him to switch parties, the Pennsylvania lawmaker insisted there is only one circumstance that would cause him to leave the Democratic Party.
According to Fetterman, that breaking point would come if Democrats officially embraced what he described as an anti-Israel platform.
