He was referencing President Trump’s remarks at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service. During his tribute, Trump said:
“He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them. That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them. I’m sorry.”
Kelly wasn’t about to let the activist smear Trump—or Kirk’s memory—without a fight.
“Assumes facts not in evidence. What you said is not true,” Kelly shot back immediately.
Not satisfied, the activist doubled down with what he thought was his “gotcha moment.”
He loudly declared:
“70% of political violence is committed by Republicans … Look it up! DOJ just pulled it! The DOJ just pulled it from their website.”
The crowd erupted in boos. Kelly acknowledged that statistics exist but didn’t let him get away with cherry-picking.
“Once you pull the crazies out of there, it is overwhelmingly left-wing violence,” Kelly countered, delivering a crushing blow.
Then she went after the activist’s core accusation head-on.
“That’s a blatant lie. It’s a defamatory blaspheme, and it’s inappropriate in this setting,” she declared.
The activist tried to soften his attack, saying he only meant Trump had “contributed to the political atmosphere – the tension.”
Kelly wasn’t buying it.
“Well then you have no point. Then your point is utterly empty.”
Kelly reminded the audience that Kirk’s killer wasn’t inspired by Trump at all. In fact, Utah Governor Spencer Cox told NBC’s Meet The Press that the suspected assassin had developed a “leftist ideology” and was increasingly radicalized in recent years.
That reality was something the activist—and the Left at large—wanted to sweep under the rug.
Still trying to salvage his moment, the activist accused Trump of “inciting violence against liberals.”
Kelly calmly dismantled that claim as well.
“The president of the United States made a joke at the Charlie Kirk Memorial, which was funny and self-deprecating. It was on the heels of Erika Kirk saying she, in an extraordinary moment, forgave her husband’s killer,” Kelly explained.
Then came the knockout line:
“And by the way, Trump has every right to loathe his enemies. They tried to put him in jail for the rest of his life. Tried to bankrupt him. Tried to put his family in jail. And they tried to kill him.”
Kelly even gave the activist one last chance to respond—but instead, he turned and walked away.
Of course he did.
This embarrassing spectacle revealed the Left’s strategy in full view: exploit tragedy, twist the facts, and weaponize statistics to demonize conservatives.
The activist came armed with talking points straight from a left-wing blog, expecting to rattle Kelly. Instead, he walked away humiliated, while Kelly defended both Trump and Charlie Kirk’s memory.
It’s the same script the Left runs every time: blame Trump for violence directed at him or his allies, while ignoring the radical leftist ideology that actually fuels these attacks.
Kelly proved why strong conservative voices are needed now more than ever. She didn’t flinch, she didn’t fold, and she didn’t allow the activist to drag Charlie Kirk’s death through the mud for cheap political points.
Her response showed conservatives exactly how to handle these moments: with courage, with facts, and with zero tolerance for exploitation of tragedy.
