As violent unrest tears through the streets of Los Angeles, California Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters has once again made headlines—not for condemning the destruction, but for defending it. In an eyebrow-raising press conference on Tuesday, Waters boldly claimed that the ongoing mayhem across the city is entirely peaceful, even as viral videos tell a far different story.
Over the last several days, left-wing radicals, illegal immigrant advocates, and criminal mobs have taken over parts of Los Angeles, spurred on by resistance to former President Donald Trump’s renewed focus on enforcing immigration law. What began as protests quickly spiraled into scenes of arson, looting, and brutal assaults on police officers. Despite this, Waters insisted, “Even those who were out of step with what we are advocating, peaceful protest, did not create any violence.”
Her remarks shocked many, especially given the overwhelming visual evidence of burning vehicles, smashed storefronts, and masked rioters clashing violently with law enforcement. Still, Waters doubled down, stating, “Nobody was shot. Nobody was killed. Get it in your head.”
She went even further, scolding reporters for allegedly mischaracterizing the chaos. “So when martial law is called, what are you going to say? I missed the point. Don’t miss the point, you all.” Waters’ message was clear: ignore the footage, ignore the fires, and trust her version of events.
