Hollywood’s George Clooney is back in the political spotlight, this time during an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper. The segment aired during Anderson Cooper 360, where Clooney appeared to promote his Broadway directorial debut — a play titled Good Night, and Good Luck, centered on journalist Edward R. Murrow’s battle with 1950s-era McCarthyism.
But as expected, the conversation quickly veered off course — straight into an anti-Trump tirade.
Cooper kicked off the segment by attempting to label former President Donald Trump’s first 136 days of his second term as the most disastrous in U.S. history. Yes, you read that right. The worst ever.
But in a rare moment of hesitation, even George Clooney — a longtime liberal mouthpiece — pumped the brakes on that idea.
“I can make an argument that we’ve had much worse times in our history,” Clooney replied.
