Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot just proved again why even her own voters had enough of her leadership. After presiding over record-breaking crime and business flight during her term, she’s now taking aim at federal immigration officers in a move that has law enforcement officials fuming and legal experts sounding alarms.
Lightfoot’s New “Accountability” Scheme
Lori Lightfoot recently announced the launch of a new nonprofit — the ICE Accountability Project — a so-called transparency initiative that’s raising serious national security concerns. The organization’s goal is to “track and unmask” federal immigration agents operating in the Chicago area.
“We want to create a centralized archive of all the purported criminal actions of ICE and CBP agents,” Lightfoot told Fox 32 Chicago.
But the details reveal something far more disturbing. The database, according to Lightfoot, will record agents’ physical traits — including “height, weight, hair color, the way they wear their vests, their insignias, even the masks, the shoes they wear, the cars they’re driving.”
