Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed Friday that U.S. forces carried out their tenth maritime strike since September — this time targeting an alleged Venezuelan drug boat in the Caribbean Sea. Six men were killed.

Hegseth said the vessel was linked to Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang and was “transiting along a known narco-trafficking route.” It marked the first nighttime strike, with video footage showing the ship erupting in flames just off Venezuela’s coast.
The operation follows Trump’s personal order on September 2, which launched the first attack that killed 11 suspected traffickers near Venezuela. Since then, over 43 individuals have been killed across the Caribbean and Pacific in what the Pentagon calls “lethal interdiction missions.”
Hegseth posted on X: “If you are a narco-terrorist smuggling drugs in our hemisphere, we will treat you like we treat al-Qaeda.”
For the first time, operations have expanded into the Pacific Ocean — signaling Trump’s new anti-cartel war now spans both coasts of Latin America.
