One case involved Renee Good, who authorities say attempted to run over a federal agent with her vehicle before being fatally shot. The second involved Alex Pretti, a man reportedly armed with a gun who allegedly interfered with federal agents during an enforcement action. Pretti also reportedly had a documented history of violent confrontations involving ICE officers.
Despite the facts surrounding both incidents, activists and open-borders advocates have continued attempting to paint federal law enforcement officials as villains.
That hostility was on full display during a bizarre exchange captured on video and later obtained by The Gateway Pundit.
The footage shows Bovino riding a workout bike at a gym when a visibly agitated woman approached him and immediately began lecturing him over immigration enforcement policies.
In perhaps the least surprising detail of the encounter, the woman was reportedly carrying a water bottle decorated with an image of Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara — a symbol frequently embraced by far-left activists despite Guevara’s brutal revolutionary history.
The woman opened the confrontation by saying:
“I hope with you leaving the position that you were in that you’re more concerned about how you’re treating immigrants.”
Bovino wasted no time correcting the framing pushed by activists and media allies for years.
“I mean, illegal aliens or immigrants? I’ve always treated immigrants great,” he responded.
The activist then escalated the confrontation, accusing Bovino of involvement in the deaths of Good and Pretti while bizarrely referencing what she called “turn and burn immigration tactics.”
Bovino calmly answered with a direct rebuttal that instantly stopped the activist in her tracks.
“They weren’t murders. The court of law said that.”
The response appeared to leave the woman momentarily speechless.
Unable to counter the facts, she pivoted toward emotional attacks instead, telling Bovino:
“You’re not welcome in our city.”
But the former Border Patrol chief fired right back without missing a beat.
“You’re not welcome in my city. How does that sound to you?”
The exchange quickly devolved into a chaotic argument over whether Bovino supposedly had a right to live in the area at all — an increasingly common tactic used by radical activists who preach tolerance while attempting to silence anyone who disagrees with them politically.
As the confrontation spiraled, the woman eventually hurled another accusation, bizarrely claiming Bovino was “protecting a pedophile.”
At that point, Bovino appeared entirely unfazed.
“I’m protecting America. Thank you, ma’am,” he replied as the woman stormed away.
Then came the line that sent social media users into hysterics.
“Nice hair.”

The sarcastic sendoff instantly became the moment viewers online focused on most, with many praising Bovino for maintaining composure while being publicly harassed during a workout.
The confrontation also highlighted a growing divide in America over immigration enforcement and the treatment of federal officers who carry out the law. While left-wing activists continue demonizing border agents and ICE officials, millions of Americans remain deeply concerned about illegal immigration, border security, violent crime, and the growing strain on cities overwhelmed by migrant surges.
For supporters of tougher immigration enforcement, Bovino’s calm handling of the situation represented something larger: a refusal to bow to intimidation tactics from activists determined to publicly shame anyone connected to border enforcement.
And judging by the reaction online, many Americans believe the former Border Patrol commander walked away from the exchange looking far more composed — and credible — than the activist who confronted him.
