Democrats have kept Washington paralyzed for more than a week as the government shutdown drags on. But one Republican finally had enough of the theatrics — and what happened next left House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries visibly rattled.

The standoff entered its eighth day Wednesday after Senate Democrats blocked the GOP’s proposed funding bill six separate times. Their sticking point? Demanding that enhanced Obamacare subsidies remain intact indefinitely.
Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) decided to confront the obstruction head-on. Outside Jeffries’ press conference, Lawler challenged him directly about bipartisan legislation to extend those subsidies for just one year.
“We’ve got a one-year extension, why don’t you sign on right now?” Lawler asked.
That’s when things spiraled out of control.
Instead of answering, Jeffries lashed out, sneering, “Did you get permission from your boss? Did your boss Donald Trump give you permission?”
