President Donald Trump is getting the last laugh this week, as Los Angeles officials were finally forced to admit the ICE-related riots were far beyond their control—validating his decision to send in the National Guard.
After downplaying the explosive protests over immigration enforcement, LAPD leaders did an abrupt about-face. By late Sunday, they declared the protests in downtown Los Angeles an “unlawful assembly,” warning residents and businesses of violent agitators on the loose. The city, once defiant, was now desperate.
“Agitators have splintered into and throughout the Downtown Area. Residents, businesses and visitors to the Downtown Area should be alert and report any criminal activity. Officers are responding to several different locations to disperse crowds,” read a statement from LAPD’s Central Division on X.
The official declaration came as California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom insisted that no outside help was needed—despite clear evidence to the contrary. His narrative collapsed under the weight of burning streets and overwhelmed officers.
On Monday, the White House didn’t hold back. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt directly blasted Newsom for failing to protect his own state.
