In a dramatic turn of events, Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley reportedly feared she was about to lose her job after giving a candid interview that exposed alleged mismanagement within the city’s fire department under Mayor Karen Bass’s administration. The revelations come amidst raging wildfires that have claimed at least 11 lives and destroyed thousands of structures.
During an interview with KTTV-TV, Crowley didn’t hold back. When asked if the city had failed her, she responded emphatically, “Yes.” She criticized the administration’s funding cuts, highlighting the department’s struggle to provide adequate services. “We are screaming to be properly funded to make sure that our firefighters can do their jobs so that we can serve the community,” she said.

Crowley pointed to systemic issues that have plagued the department. “Since day one, we’ve identified huge gaps in regard to our service delivery and our ability of our firefighters’ boots on the ground to do their jobs,” she explained. “This is no longer sustainable.”
