Late-night television took a hard political turn this week when Jimmy Kimmel delivered a line that many Americans say exposed just how far removed Hollywood has become from everyday reality.

The ABC host, speaking on his Tuesday night program, attempted to defend illegal immigration during a segment targeting Republicans. But in doing so, he made a statement that immediately set off a political firestorm.
Kimmel played footage of Lisa McClain, a Republican from Michigan, criticizing Democrats for shielding illegal immigrants accused of heinous crimes, including murder and sexual assault. Instead of directly addressing her concerns, Kimmel pivoted.
He declared that illegal immigrants are “raising your children.”
For many viewers, that was not a punchline. It was a confession.
A Hollywood Perspective That Doesn’t Reflect America
Kimmel lives and works in Los Angeles, a city with a large immigrant workforce, including many employed in domestic and childcare roles. In elite neighborhoods, it is not uncommon for wealthy families to rely on immigrant labor for nannies, landscaping, and household help.
