Another protester can be heard in the video pleading, “Record, record!” as the situation escalates, hoping to catch the altercation on camera. The man at the center of the scuffle has since been identified as Brandon Hill.
According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, Covington Police Chief Brian Valenti confirmed that Hill was one of approximately 15 individuals arrested during the incident. Two of those detained were reportedly journalists. Chief Valenti assured the public that a full internal review is underway to evaluate the events that unfolded on the bridge.
Approximately 40 to 50 law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene to deal with the unruly demonstration. Several officers were treated for minor injuries at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital following the confrontation, though no officers were reported to be seriously harmed.
Covington Mayor Ronald Washington weighed in on the incident by announcing that the officer who delivered the controversial beatdown to Brandon Hill has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation. “The officer will remain on paid duty while we gather all the facts,” Washington stated.
Chief Valenti added that the officer in question has served on the force for “several years” and emphasized that he believed Hill may have been armed during the altercation. However, no firearm or weapon was recovered at the scene.
The footage and the fallout have reignited a broader national debate over the line between lawful protest and public endangerment, especially as leftist activism increasingly escalates into obstruction and confrontation with law enforcement.
While the mainstream media may rush to paint this as excessive force, many Americans watching the video saw something different—a police officer refusing to let anarchists take over a bridge, cause mayhem, and threaten the safety of the public and fellow officers.
The left may cry foul, but the overwhelming sentiment on social media appears to be support for the officer’s swift response in the face of a potential threat. When chaos erupts, Americans expect law and order—not capitulation to mobs.
