Former President Barack Obama is stirring fresh controversy after appearing on his wife Michelle’s new podcast, “The Light Podcast with Michelle Obama,” where he offered advice to young men—advice that raised eyebrows among conservative listeners and critics alike.
In a clip that quickly went viral, Obama told his wife’s audience that boys don’t just need strong fathers—they also need “gay friends and mentors” to help them navigate life.
“And that’s one of the things that I think a lot of times boys need, is, not just exposure to one guy, one dad, no matter how good the dad. He can’t be everything. And that boy may need somebody to give the boy some perspective on the dad right?” Obama said during the discussion.
