The Democratic Party is gearing up for a battle with Donald Trump over his administration’s decision to shut down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), as recommended by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The agency, long accused of being a bureaucratic stronghold for leftist activism, is now at the center of a political firestorm.
Democrats wasted no time launching their attacks, with Rep. Ilhan Omar leading the charge at a protest outside USAID headquarters. Omar unleashed a furious tirade, accusing Trump of authoritarian overreach after he moved USAID under the State Department’s control and named Secretary of State Marco Rubio as its acting director.

“We talked about Trump wanting to be a dictator on day one, and here we are. This is what the beginning of dictatorship looks like. When you gut the Constitution and you install yourself as the sole power, that is how dictators are made,” Omar ranted.
