“The Islamic Republic delivered a heavy slap to the US’s face. It attacked and inflicted damage on the Al-Udeid Air Base, which is one of the key US bases in the region,” he claimed.
And in a final boast, he warned of future attacks, suggesting Iran has the capability to hit U.S. interests anytime, anywhere.
“The fact that the Islamic Republic has access to key US centers in the region and can take action whenever it deems necessary is a significant matter. Such an action can be repeated in the future too. Should any aggression occur, the enemy will definitely pay a heavy price,” he wrote.
But behind the bombast lies a very different reality — one the Ayatollah is desperate to distract from.
After hiding out for weeks, reportedly amid serious discussions in Israel about potentially targeting him directly, Khamenei emerged to give a televised speech threatening a counterattack if Iran is hit again. His appearance came just before the United States revealed a stunning military success that left Iran’s nuclear ambitions in ruins.
According to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, the U.S. executed what he described as “the most complex and secretive military operation in history” — a daring strike on Iran’s fortified nuclear site buried deep within a mountain.
Hegseth called it a “resounding success,” as reported by the BBC.
Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, laid out the details in a Pentagon briefing that thoroughly dismantled Khamenei’s fantasy. He dismissed Iran’s missile strike on the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar as ineffective, saying the U.S. had prepared in advance and minimized personnel on-site.
“On Monday morning, the U.S. began to receive warnings that Iran intended to attack U.S. bases in region,” Caine said.
In anticipation, American forces adopted a minimal presence at the targeted base — reducing the footprint from roughly 10,000 troops to just 44 individuals.
As a result, Iran’s so-called “slap” landed with zero casualties and no structural damage. Not exactly the war-winning triumph Khamenei suggested.
Caine went on to highlight the precision and power of the U.S. response. Six advanced bunker-busting bombs were dropped on Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility — a heavily fortified site that Tehran believed to be impenetrable. The operation left little visible damage on the surface, but the underground impact was devastating.
“Unlike a normal surface bomb, you won’t see an impact crater, because they’re designed to deeply bury and then function. I know there’s been a lot of questions about that — all six weapons at each vent at Fordow went exactly where they were intended to go,” Caine stated, according to the U.K. Independent.
While the Ayatollah spins propaganda to save face, the facts tell a far more sobering story for Iran’s leadership. Their nuclear ambitions have been gutted, their air defenses breached, and their retaliatory strike ended in utter failure.
Khamenei may claim victory from behind his palace walls, but the reality is that the United States just delivered a punishing and precise message: America’s strength isn’t just talk — it’s action.
