In a bizarre and defiant move, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei took to social media Thursday to proclaim “victory” over the United States — even as his country reels from devastating military setbacks and a shattered nuclear program.
Despite Iran’s defenses being decimated and its uranium enrichment capabilities reduced to rubble, Khamenei acted as though his regime had scored a historic win. The delusional messaging campaign, delivered in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), sought to portray Iran as having humiliated the U.S. military.
“My congratulations on our dear Iran’s victory over the US regime. The US regime entered the war directly because it felt that if it didn’t, the Zionist regime would be completely destroyed. It entered the war in an effort to save that regime but achieved nothing,” he posted.
The Islamic Republic delivered a heavy slap to the US’s face. It attacked and inflicted damage on the Al-Udeid Air Base, which is one of the key US bases in the region.
