Vice President J.D. Vance emerged as the overwhelming favorite in the 2028 presidential straw poll at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), delivering a crushing blow to potential rivals. The results show Vance miles ahead of other conservative heavyweights, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon.
The highly anticipated poll, conducted in partnership with McLaughlin and Associates, asked CPAC attendees who they would support in the next Republican primary. Former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer shared the results on X, revealing Vance’s landslide victory.

Vance Crushes the Competition
Vance dominated with a staggering 61 percent of the vote, reinforcing his position as the frontrunner for the GOP nomination in 2028. Bannon, host of “War Room,” trailed far behind in second place with 12 percent, despite giving no indication that he intends to run. Meanwhile, DeSantis garnered just five percent, a dismal showing for the Florida governor, who is widely expected to launch another White House bid after his failed 2024 campaign.
