Calls for accountability erupted in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday as Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) officially demanded answers over the suspiciously well-equipped rioters who have turned Los Angeles into a battleground. The Missouri Republican, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, is now leading the charge to uncover who’s behind the chaos—and more importantly, who’s funding it.
Over the past several days, footage from Los Angeles has shown agitators wearing high-end protective gear—face shields, tactical ear protection, and body padding—as they confront law enforcement officers and federal agents. These aren’t spontaneous, grassroots protesters. They look like they’re suiting up for war.
Even liberal-leaning media outlets in LA have raised eyebrows at how organized and equipped the rioters appear. Many questioned how everyday “activists” could afford such gear unless someone was footing the bill—and that question is exactly what Sen. Hawley is now demanding be answered.
“Who is funding the LA riots? This violence isn’t spontaneous,” Hawley posted on social media, sounding the alarm for federal scrutiny.
