As violent unrest continues to shake Los Angeles following a series of targeted ICE raids, Republican Congresswoman Young Kim (CA-40) is stepping up with a resolution that calls for accountability — not just from the rioters, but from lawmakers who remain silent. Kim’s message is simple: either you stand for law and order or you don’t.
On Tuesday, Kim introduced a resolution condemning the recent surge of chaos in Los Angeles that erupted after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested individuals with criminal records — some involving heinous offenses like murder and sexual assault. In response to the growing violence, she’s demanding that her colleagues in Congress, especially Democrats, stop hiding behind vague press statements and take a clear position by supporting her resolution.
“Don’t just say it — follow your rhetoric with actions by supporting this resolution,” Kim urged, challenging lawmakers who have expressed generic opposition to violence without taking real steps to stop it.
The latest round of ICE enforcement operations sparked demonstrations across neighborhoods known for high immigrant populations. But these weren’t peaceful vigils. What began as protests quickly spiraled into lawlessness. Reports from authorities include arson attacks, property destruction, assaults on police officers, and mass arrests. Several vehicles were torched, and tensions ran so high that the Trump administration sent in National Guard troops to stabilize the city — the first federal deployment in Los Angeles without state consent in decades.
