Far left Rep. Pramila Jayapal is back in the spotlight, and once again it is for all the wrong reasons. During a recent appearance on MS NOW, the Washington Democrat delivered a revisionist lecture on American history that left viewers stunned and critics furious. Her comments were not just inaccurate, they were insulting to generations of Americans who actually built the nation she now represents.
Jayapal used her platform to promote a narrative that erases the accomplishments of European immigrants and the backbone contributions of White Americans. Instead, she insisted the nation is primarily the creation of newcomers from “Somalia, India, Latin America and Africa.” In her own words, she claimed, “The majority of Americans across the country, regardless of political party, know that immigrants from all over the world, Somalia, India, wherever they’re from, Latin America, Africa, that immigrants have built this country and make this country what it is today.”
The remark immediately triggered backlash because of what it conveniently ignores. European settlers, colonists, pioneers, inventors, builders, farmers, and generations of Americans who fought in wars, built infrastructure, created institutions, and shaped the nation were essentially “whited out” of her narrative. Jayapal’s version of history is not just incomplete, it is blatantly political.
