CNN managed to deliver another jaw dropping moment in its long streak of embarrassing on air blunders. This time it came courtesy of Jake Tapper, who confidently told viewers that the FBI had finally arrested a “white man” for the January 6 pipe bomb case. The only problem is the suspect is not white. Not even close.
After nearly five years of silence and stalled progress under Biden’s FBI leadership, federal agents on Thursday finally arrested 30 year old Brian Cole of Woodbridge, Virginia. Cole faces charges connected to the pipe bombs discovered at the RNC and DNC headquarters on January 5, the night before the Capitol riot. Cole was taken into custody and hit with counts that include use of an explosive device along with attempted malicious destruction by means of explosive materials.
It took a new administration and new leadership for the case to suddenly move forward. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino revealed during a press briefing that investigators solved the case without receiving any additional witnesses or fresh tips. In plain English, the Bureau had everything it needed years ago. The only thing missing was the will to act.
