President Donald Trump announced Wednesday night that his administration is launching what he described as an unprecedented economic campaign aimed at further isolating the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a forceful statement, Trump said Tehran had been given repeated opportunities to reach an agreement with the United States but ultimately failed to do so. He argued that Iran now faces a dramatically weakened military and economy and warned that countries or institutions helping keep the regime afloat could face serious consequences.
“No one has given the Islamic Republic of Iran a greater opportunity to make a Deal than me. TRAGICALLY, for them, they have failed to take it.”
