In a move that sounds more like satire than serious policy, Scotland is reportedly considering a ban on cat ownership in certain areas to protect local wildlife. The proposal, outlined by the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission (SAWC), suggests that felines are a major threat to birds and small mammals—and the solution? Restricting or outright banning pet cats.
This latest push comes from concerns that domestic cats are responsible for the deaths of millions of birds and hundreds of thousands of bats each year across the UK. While cats are known hunters, the idea of banning them altogether has sparked outrage and disbelief among pet lovers.
