ICE Deports Mom & Newborn Twins!

Arrested During a Routine Check-In

According to a report from KHOU, Salazar and her children were detained during what was supposed to be a routine meeting to discuss her immigration case. Her husband, Federico Arellano Jr., a U.S. citizen, recounted the harrowing scene as ICE agents took his family into custody.

“They were shocked and surprised that they were separated,” said immigration lawyer Isaias Torres. Arellano said his children cried as agents forcibly separated them from him and took Salazar and the kids into custody. He claimed ICE agents threatened him when he tried to intervene.

Missed Hearing Due to Medical Recovery

The family maintains that they called the immigration court ahead of the scheduled hearing to explain Salazar’s inability to attend due to her recovery from surgery. They were reportedly told that the hearing would be rescheduled. Later, they received a call instructing them to appear at a location in Greenspoint to discuss their case. Instead of resolving the issue, Salazar and her children were arrested.

“The issue of Cristina missing her court hearing was a technical violation that could have been resolved,” another family attorney emphasized. The deportation, they argued, was unnecessarily harsh given the circumstances.

U.S. Citizen Husband Describes “Heartbreaking” Scene

Federico Arellano Jr., devastated by the separation, described how ICE agents ignored his explanations and proceeded to detain his wife and children. “It was heartbreaking to see my kids crying and taken away,” he told reporters. Arellano’s attorneys argue that ICE’s actions violated basic principles of fairness and compassion, especially considering the two newborns’ U.S. citizenship.

Growing Outrage Over the Deportation

The deportation has sparked outrage among immigrant advocates, who criticize the Biden administration for its handling of the case. Critics argue that such actions contradict the administration’s promises of a more humane immigration policy.

The family’s attorneys are now fighting to bring Salazar and her children back to the United States. “This is not just about a missed hearing—it’s about a failure to show basic compassion for a family in crisis,” one attorney stated.

A Larger Conversation on Immigration Enforcement

This case has reignited debate over the treatment of immigrant families and the enforcement priorities of ICE. Advocacy groups have called for greater accountability and reforms to prevent similar situations in the future.

While the Biden administration has sought to present a more compassionate approach to immigration, incidents like this raise questions about the effectiveness of those policies and their impact on vulnerable families.
