Here is what Rep. Omar said, verbatim:
REP. ILHAN OMAR: I represent Minneapolis, which is currently under occupation.
We do not exaggerate when we say we have schools where two-thirds of the students are afraid to go to school.
We do not exaggerate when we say we have people who are afraid to go to the hospital because our hospitals have occupying paramilitary forces.
We do not exaggerate when we say our restaurants are shutting down because there are not enough people to drive the employees to work and from work.
We do not exaggerate when I say we have people who are housing other people because they are afraid to go home.
And that is all happening in an American city.
Omar continued by making explosive claims about federal agents shooting her constituents, accusing former President Donald Trump of misleading the public.
We have two neighbors, two of my constituents, who were shot by federal agents as cameras recorded. And their president maligned their name and told us not to believe our eyes.
She didn’t stop there. Omar then directly targeted Republican leaders and former Trump administration officials, calling for immediate political retaliation.
When we say it is time for Kristi Noem to go, we mean it now.
When we say there needs to be accountability for the architect of the terror we are facing in Minneapolis and so many other cities, which is Stephen Miller, we mean we need accountability for him now.
To many Americans, these statements raise serious questions—not just about Omar’s rhetoric, but about her priorities. While violent crime, drug overdoses, and homelessness plague major cities, Omar appears more focused on demonizing federal agents and blaming political opponents than addressing the root causes harming her constituents.
Critics argue that her words actively undermine public trust in law enforcement and embolden lawlessness. When a member of Congress labels federal officers as “terror,” it sends a dangerous message—especially at a time when officers nationwide are already facing hostility, violence, and morale crises.
There is also the broader question of representation. Members of Congress are sworn to uphold the Constitution and serve the interests of the American people. Yet Omar repeatedly speaks as though the United States is an oppressive regime rather than the nation that gave her refuge, opportunity, and political power.
At some point, voters must ask an uncomfortable but necessary question: What is improved by Ilhan Omar’s continued presence in Congress? What tangible benefit does she offer to the country beyond outrage, division, and inflammatory rhetoric?
Rather than uniting her district or proposing constructive solutions, Omar continues to make headlines by attacking America itself. And for millions of Americans watching from the outside, that speaks volumes.
