Top Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters, 86, went on the offensive Monday, leading a protest outside the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) headquarters. Her outrage? The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) slashing wasteful contracts and saving taxpayers millions.
HUD’s recent audit uncovered $260 million in waste, leading to plans to cut half of its workforce. That didn’t sit well with Waters and her Democrat allies, who are furious that government bloat is finally being trimmed.

Waters, along with Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen and others, attempted to storm HUD’s offices to hand-deliver a letter demanding answers from HUD Secretary Scott Turner. But security wasn’t having it. Instead of Turner, they were met by his Chief of Staff, who shut them down cold. According to Waters, Turner was “too busy” to deal with them.
