Ontario Premier Doug Ford is making bold threats against the United States, lashing out at former President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canadian exports. Ford, a vocal critic of Trump’s trade policies, has warned that he is willing to take extreme retaliatory measures if tariffs are imposed.
After initially delaying tariffs on Canada and Mexico, Trump confirmed this week that he intends to move forward with a 25 percent tariff on imports from both countries. The move, he says, is necessary to ensure border security and to protect American industries.

Ford, however, is not backing down. In an interview on NBC News, he dismissed Trump’s plan, claiming that no American he had met actually supported the idea. That claim comes despite Trump securing overwhelming support from American voters in the last election.
