Grand Jury STOPS Prosecutors Cold on James Case

New York Attorney General Letitia James just caught another break — and this one has Washington buzzing. A federal grand jury in Norfolk, Virginia, declined to bring a fresh indictment against her on Thursday, shutting down the Department of Justice’s attempt to revive a case that had already been dismissed by a Clinton-appointed judge. For many observers, the decision raises new questions about political favoritism, prosecutorial overreach, and how far Democrat officials can stretch legal boundaries without consequence.

James originally faced serious federal charges out of the Eastern District of Virginia back in September. Prosecutors alleged that the high-profile Democrat had crossed the line on matters far more personal than her political crusades — this time involving her own real estate dealings.

According to her earlier indictment, James was hit with two felony counts: Bank Fraud under 18 U.S.C. Section 1344 and False Statements to a Financial Institution under 18 U.S.C. Section 1014. These were not minor accusations. Federal prosecutors claimed she had misrepresented key details surrounding a mortgage she obtained for a Norfolk, Virginia property known locally as the Perrone Property.
