Local law enforcement and federal agencies, including the FBI’s Newark field office and New Jersey State Police, are investigating the drone sightings. Reports suggest drone activity extends beyond Bedminster, with sightings in nearby Mendham and Parsippany. A Parsippany resident reported seeing as many as five drones overhead on Sunday night.
In a statement, Morris County Sheriff James Gannon assured the public there is no immediate danger:
“Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon would like to inform everyone that the recent drone activity observed by many in our communities is being actively investigated. There is no advisable immediate danger to the public at this time.”
Authorities are urging residents to provide clear photos of any drones spotted in the area to aid their investigation.
The incidents in New Jersey echo similar reports overseas. In the United Kingdom, “swarms of small drones” have been observed over military bases like RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. These bases house advanced fighter jets such as the F-15 and F-35. While none of these incursions caused damage, the British military increased security around the affected sites.
Back in the U.S., drone activity has also disrupted public events. During a Green Day concert in September, a drone flew over the stage, causing lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong to flee mid-performance. The show resumed after a 10-minute delay, and Detroit police later arrested a suspect.

In a joint statement, officials from Morris and Somerset counties acknowledged public concern over the recurring drone activity. They emphasized their commitment to monitoring the situation and urged anyone with information to come forward:
“County and local law enforcement agencies are aware of the recurring reports of drone activity around Morris and Somerset counties, and acknowledge the public’s concern about these repeated sightings.”
