A naturalized U.S. citizen accused of running a massive food stamp fraud operation in Washington state has been arrested in India after allegedly fleeing the United States while facing federal charges.
Manjit Singh Bedi, a citizen of the United States originally from India, was taken into custody by Punjab Police in Jalandhar, India, after being placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudsters list.
American authorities accuse Bedi of participating in a scheme that allegedly diverted at least $600,000 in taxpayer-funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
