Dr. Anthony Fauci’s troubles may be far from over, as House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) recently unleashed a wave of fresh criticism over Fauci’s role in funding controversial gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. During a recent appearance on Fox News host Will Cain’s radio show, Comer made it clear that he believes Fauci misled the American people and Congress about the origins of COVID-19 and the risky research that U.S. taxpayer dollars were allegedly supporting.

Trump’s Ban on Gain-of-Function Research
The COVID-19 pandemic, widely suspected to have originated from a genetically modified virus at the Wuhan lab in China, remains a deeply controversial issue. Many point to gain-of-function research as a possible cause, where scientists genetically enhance viruses to better understand their transmission and lethality. This type of research became a focal point after President Donald Trump issued an executive order banning it at foreign laboratories, aiming to reduce the risk of future pandemics.
